Grandpas grand Kerala tour, a firsthand report

It was our long-cherished desire that we should go and meet our old friends settled in Kerala when they are in good health and spirit. Our inspiration was mainly Shri PN Balasubrahmanian (Doraiswamy) who left Bhilai nearly 40 yrs back and settled at his native place Palakkad. Swamy, in spite of his advanced age, still finds it a pleasure to come to the railway station to meet his old associates passing through Palakkad, though the stoppage is only for five minutes. Grand Kerala tour by Grandpas group to relive old Bhilai memories

It was the journey of a lifetime, all the way from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh to Kerala for a bunch of four senior citizens, with a single agenda of meeting and catching up with their old friends from Bhilai who are now back in their native State. Shri PRN Pillai, Shri GVK Nair, Shri MNC Pillai and Shri N Ramadasan made up this group, all retired senior executives from the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) who choose to settle down in Bhilai itself. Taste of Awadhi at Hilton Garden Inn, Trivandrum

Hilton Garden Inn, Trivandrum is hosting ‘Taste of Awadhi’ food fest from Jan 24 to Feb 02, 2020, at their Garden Grill fine-dine restaurant. As the name suggests, it’s a celebration of the Nawabi cuisine, inspired and influenced by the Mughals.

The food fest has an elaborate spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes prepared with exotic spices and herbs, garnished with dry fruits, with stress on ‘dum’ items. The food was aromatic, rich and heavy; definitely not for the calorie-conscious. Continue reading…

A brief getaway at Gateway Varkala IHCL SeleQtions

Trivandrum is blessed to have two world-famous beach towns nearby, Kovalam and Varkala. Varkala has some of the best pristine beaches in Kerala, but unlike Kovalam beach, Varkala Beach is a cliff beach. Varkala is just about 50 kms from Trivandrum but the drive would take at least an hour and a half through the narrow stretch of road that we call NH 66. However, the last 12 kms or so after deviating from the highway is really good as you reach Varkala town.
