Trivandrum: Hilton Garden Inn, Trivandrum is all set to host a food promotion featuring the typical Kerala cuisine from Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi. The ‘Travancore Tavern’ food festival will be held at their Garden Grille Restaurant from September 01 to 09, 2017 and would feature some of the best and authentic Kerala cuisine.
The ‘Travancore Tavern’ food festival would focus on the traditional and authentic cuisine from the Travancore region in Kerala. The Travancore region is again divided into three zones as Northern Travancore (Hill Range) (Idukki and parts of Ernakulam), Central Travancore (Central Range) (Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam) and Southern Travancore (South Range) (Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam). The food from these areas is highly influenced by the Hindu cuisine and the Syrian Christian cuisine. This food fest is an attempt to showcase some of the popular and also lesser know delicacies from this region.
The buffet would feature a lavish vegetarian spread with local delicacies like Avial (with coconut milk), Beetroot Olathu, Cabbage Peera, Carrot Pachadi, Mango Pachadi, Olan, Parippu curry, Theeyal and Koottu Thoran, to name a few.
It would be a delight for non-vegetarians with dishes like Irachi Varuthathu, Irachi Stew, Irachi Curry, Irachi Piralen, Kozhi Masala, Kozhi Pidi, Pork Piralen, Thaaravu Varuthathu, etc.
Chemmen Varuthathu, Fish Moilee, Mathi Curry, Meen Curry, Poricha Meen and Fish mappas would be some of the attractions among fish-based dishes.
For those with a sweet tooth, there would be a variety of desserts, payasams and savouries to choose from. The ‘Travancore Tavern’ dinner only buffet is priced at Rs. 1,299 + Taxes.
The hotel is also hosting an elaborate special Onam feast ‘Thiruvona Sadya’ on September 4th from 12 noon to 3 pm and is priced at Rs. 999 + Taxes.
